My home chapter of RWA, the Sacramento Valley Rose, put on its 2nd Reader’s Luncheon on Saturday. I forgot my camera (I swear my short-term memory loss is getting chronic.), but I had solid promises from several friends who remembered their cameras that they will forward photos.
Here’s the first to come through for me — Kimberly Van Meter.
This smiling trio consists of me, Kim and Stacey Kayne. I knew both of these writers before they sold, and now they’re these amazing, accomplished authors. I’m so proud of them both. Here are links to their sites. Stacey and Kim
Our guest speaker was Julia Quinn. She was just delightful — and what a trouper. She showed up and gave a great talk despite the fact she was getting over laryngitus. (Forgive the spelling. I’m too lazy to look it up.)
My sister, Jan, went with me, and we both owe a great big “Thank you” to pal Susan Crosby for driving the final leg of the trip to Sacramento. The traffic on Highway-99 is really getting to be a challenge — especially for a country bumpkin like me.
Plus, we got to chat with one of my favorite readers, Patti Rueb. Good to see you, Patti, and thanks for bringing so many books for me to sign. Love it!!!
What fun it was to celebrate readers! The ladies who came to the luncheon were avid and eclectic readers, who were also interested in writing and writers. Kim and I shared a table, so I had the pleasure of meeting more of her family and friends, plus two new converts — Bonnie and Mert. Thanks for coming, ladies.
I’m picking two winners tomorrow. I promise. Just got caught up in writing today — must be the backwash from all those creative vibes at the luncheon.
Happy October 1,
Deb

Hi, Marie, she was great. Funny, fun, relaxed and very real. I’d been sharing something with my table earlier about how anything you lose — right down a shopping list == is always the best thing you’ve ever done. And Julia said the same thing in her talk when she listed 10 important steps to being published — BACK UP everything you write because without a doubt the one thing you lose will be the best thing you’ve ever written.

It was fun and enjoyable. Thanks for inviting me. I especially love to go anywhere that I don’t have to drive. And to think that I used to love to drive anytime. Loved Julia’s speech and visiting with new people. Food was very good!!! jan

Oh yes, the food was yummy. Don’t we look darling? LOL. It was a great time. I’m so glad I went. And of course, my sister was over the moon because she got more books and another pic with her favorite Nascar author, Pamela Britton.
In all, everyone had a great time.

P.S. No, Deb, YOU’RE IT! Check out my blog and you’ll see what I mean. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Okay…I got it, Kim. There are rules. Who knew?
Here’s the gist:
Players offer eight random habits/facts about themselves. If you’re tagged, you need to write your own blog about your eight things and post the rules. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose eight people to tag- and list their names.
Kim also wrote: “And guess what? I only know three people who have blogs that I visit. So I’m bending the rules and listing those three. I guess I owe the blog tag world five people….”
Well, guess what, Kim? I don’t think I know any more than that. Do people who blog in a group count? Like Kay Stockham. She’s part of the PinkLadies.
