I just got the following e-mail:
Congratulations! Your entry, “A Baby On The Way” placed 1st in the Contemporary category. Your certificate, award, and score sheets will be sent via the US Postal Service within the next two weeks.
On behalf of Lake Country Romance Writers, thank you for entering our contest. If it weren’t for writers such as yourself, LCRW wouldn’t be able to hold a successful contest each year.
“A Baby On The Way” scored 39 out of a total of 40 points. The Barclay Gold utilized modified RWA Rita-style judging this year in order to eliminate discrepancy judging. Please remember that each judge brings his or her own perspective to the judging process.

I almost never enter contests because I’m a terrible procrastinator and by the time I get around to filling in all the blanks and sending in the money…I’ve missed the deadline. But my daughter offered to help in my office, so I put her in charge of contests. This is her first win and she’s doing the happy dance, too.
I knew you’d all be happy for me, so have an extra piece of chocolate on me today.

That’s really great, you are surely a winner! Bet you’re doing better than me on Xmas- it’s too cold up here, thank goodness for the internet or I wouldn’t be getting much shopping done. Give everyone a big hug.

Thanks, everybody. We celebrated with Shrimp Scampi and a lovely chardonnay…and persimmon cookies that kelly baked. I’m saving the chocolate for tomorrow since if I eat it too late, it keeps me awake.
Appreciate all your support!!!

Congratulations!….a few days late, but we have been without power for a week here in Tulsa. Thank goodness for a fireplace, gas range, 2 oil lamps, and books to read. It felt like being back in time for a few days…..wouldn’t really be interested in living that way

Boy, Ruby, I’m sorry to hear about your power outage. Sounds like that ice storm was widespread and a real problem. I remember a few of those when I lived in SD. I’m glad to know ou had a fireplace, too.
Stay warm.

Thank you, Judith. I’m glad, too. Made Kelly feel really good about helping me. But she’s starting back to college in january so she probably won’t be able to do as much as she has. Oh, well, good for her.
