My youngest granddaughter is celebrating her FIRST birthday. I let her open a gift this morning after breakfast and she “oohed” and “ahhed” over it. She’s a girly-girl, we’ve decided. Here she is modeling her daisy dress. 
Tomorrow is my mother’s memorial.
Life is sure filled with highs and lows, isn’t it?

Thanks, my dear friends. I appreciate your support and good wishes.
The memorial was perfect. Mom must have made a deal with the weather gods because our predicted high of 100+ didn’t happen. It was 90-something but with a lovely breeze. Our caterer did a great job, and best of all: no shots were fired. 
(Family gatherings can be so unpredictable. 
) Seriously, it was a lovely tribute to a lovely, amazing woman.
Now, I’m going to hide out in my book for awhile and rest.
