More party pics from the Harlequin party

My dear friend and Superromance author Susan Gable SUSAN just sent me photos from the Harlequin party at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. My camera goes all wonky and sucks down battery power like its Kool-aid when I try to use it in poorly lighted situations. Susan, bless her heart, toted her “big” camera with all its bells and whistles and played paparazzi. Yeah, Susan!!! (And congrats on the upcoming book, A KID TO THE RESCUE (Feb. 09). Love the title. Can’t wait to read it.)

The dress! I told myself I wasn’t wearing black. This is so NOT black. Isn’t it pretty? And I think my contractor hubby cleans up pretty nice, too.

The Harlequin party is THE most talked about publisher event at conference. And I always have a blast. Here’s a shot of me and Kathy Shay cutting loose on the dance floor. Yes, I actually do look that goofy when I’m dancing. Sigh.

And here’s my favorite shot of all. Paul dropping a little “swoo” on Superromance editor Victoria Curran. (Swoo is a made-up word you’re going to see a lot in upcoming books. )

Last but not least, here’s a shot of me and Susan. Thanks, my friend. You did good.

Deb

  1. Good pictures. Glad Susan had her “big” camera.

  2. Love the swoo! Is it okay to send some “swoo” to you, or is that just icky?? LOL. Hard to tell when one doesn’t quite grasp the nuances of a word.

I don’t think you look goofy dancing. I think you look like you’re having FUN!

Glad you liked the pics, and I loved the dress! I am so not into black, although I’m learning to get some pieces. Black goes with everything.

  3. Im’ going to have to say you two are a very nice looking couple! and you are grandparents? you look too young for it! i just LOVE that dress too!!!! i want it!

  4. Marie, you’re so sweet. Thanks for the compliment!!!

I found the dress at Macy’s, after trying on 6 very bland dresses. I carried the entire load back to the discard rack and there was the fucia dress. In my size!!! It was Fate.

Susan, swoo is tad more romantic than you probably want to send me. Here’s the simplest explanation I can give you is in HIS BROTHER’S SECRET (I think):
Libby: “So, in other words, Kat, swoo means charisma.”
Kat: “No, Libby. Charisma will get you elected. Swoo gets you laid.”

Thanks, Ellen. I’m really glad Susan had her camera, too. And Mr. Deb (Paul) is happy, too. He said to tell you thanks, Susan.

  5. LOL…swoo. I love made up words.

Love the pics. What fun. That night. The dancing. The drinks. The busted up knees the morning after. Good times.

  6. Busted up knees? Girl, you are waaay to young for that.

Of course, some people actually know how to dance. I just cut loose and move to the music. Plus, it’s such tight corners that it’s really hard to move around much.

    It was fun!

  7. Ohhh, it was CRAZY out there on the dance floor. We had Amy Knupp, Kay Stockham, Jeannie Watt and her wonderful daughter Jamie, Victoria Curran, and of course, me and the hubby bustin’ it out! My dh was adorable with his Grease Lightning routine. At one point, someone nudged someone in our group and asked, “Who’s that guy write for? He’s soooo expressive!” And (I think it was Amy or Kay) they answered, “He’s not a writer! That’s Kim Van Meter’s husband!” LOL!!
    Funny stuff!
We had a blast. And yes, your dress was mahvelous!

  8. Deb, the dress is fabulous and you look fabulous! Can’t wait to see you and Paul in 2010. Love the made up word - swoo!! Am glad your friend had her big camera to capture those great shots!! Hugs, Jackie
