R&R…the lull before the storm
As the east coast awaits more storms, the west coast is sweltering. Well, my part of the state, anyway. So, hubby and I took off for the beach. Here’s a fact: the temperature dropped 40-degrees–honestly– in ten miles once we hit the downward slope of the coastal range. Amazing. Fog enshrouded Morro Rock completely. The cool gray chill was glorious. For a day. And when the sun came out on Saturday afternoon, we were in heaven.
Here are some travel shots: the first is a totally unplanned (giggling) PR moment when I just happened to stumble across this woman reading a book..MY book..HIS BROTHER’S SECRET…on the beach.
Okay, it’s not all that unplanned since the woman is my friend, Colleen, and I’d just given her a signed copy of the book. But, she was really happy to have it. And she might have sat on that rock reading it if she didn’t have a perfectly warm and comfy chair in her beach house.
Our resident hunter gatherers got totally soaked on our behalf as they fished for surf perch–and brought in enough for dinner. Hooray!!!
And we bait girls (sorta like caddies for golfers only our fingers get all stinky from handling dead fish) were treated to a little eye candy when a group of younger surfers trekked past.
What more can you ask from a weekend getaway? Cool temps, great friends, excellent wine, fresh fish and..well, the surfers were pretty cute, too.
Now, I’m off to work on my book. Must finish before I leave for Detroit and Toronto. My editor might lock the door when I get there if I don’t deliver my manuscript on time.
If you have time this week, check out the blogs at eHarlequin.com. Mine is on Thursday, Sept. 11. I’ll try to post a reminder and linkon Thursday, but that’s also my daughter’s birthday. My Superromance pal, Ellen Hartman is blogging tomorrow. She’s a hoot. MOMENTS
