The day after today. Just to be clear.

I know everyone says you’re supposed to live in the moment, but that’s really difficult if you’re four-going-on-five and your birthday is in ONE day!

I’ve been hearing this countdown for a week, now, and every time my granddaughter tells me, “Only three…two…one…more days till my birthday!” my heart turns over with happiness. I want to sweep her into my arms and soak up some of that simple joy and delight.  I can’t share it telepathically–or through a blog–anymore than she can transmit those happiness cells to me by touch. But I can show you her photo. That’s worth a smile or two, don’t you think?

I'm almost five and I've got attitude!!

Tomorrow is also my brother Bob’s birthday. And his granddaughter Elizabeth’s birthday. And, if I’m not mistaken, my friend Samantha Hunter’s father’s birthday. So, I’m using my blog today to wish everyone who was born on May 11th a most wonderful tomorrow.

  1. Deb! Thanks so much for including my Dad, and love the happy smiles! I also like the picture I saw lower down on your previous blog, LOL!

You are a sweet woman — thanks so much and happy birthday to your loved ones as well!

  2. I remember when I was 5 and during school lunch break I was standing at the vending machine to buy chocolate milk (for 5cents I must add)and a girl named Kelly pushed me. I fell down and hit my head on the corner of the wall (the vending machines were in a cubby). Unfortunately I can’t remember why she pushed me – did I start something or did she? – but I do remember I didn’t like her. And obviously she didn’t like me.

So Happy Birthday to your granddaughter and may noone push her down in their eagerness to get some chocolate milk!

  3. Poor, Marcie!!! Bullies were just as prevelent back in the day as they are now. I wish I knew why people were so mean. They do leave lasting impressions.

I will ask Rya about her day when I see her tonight for dinner. She’s all about the presents. I get to give her mind tonight.

  4. Hi Debra

I believe I was the lucky person who won your book when you were interviewed on Nas Dean’s blog. Sorry it’s taken so long, but you know how it is.

I love the look of your blog. Happy birthdays all round here! I was sorry to hear about the passing of your classmate on the previous post. So sad when someone our age passes unexpectedly!
