The party’s over…

But, oh, what a good time we had.

Thought I’d share a few photos from my big night.

Awesome earrings--handmade by my daughter, Kelly.
When you're old, people give you goofy hats to wear. Thanks, Mary. ๐Ÿ™‚

My beloved family outdid themselves. Thank you, Paul, Ruth, Kelly, and the fabulous decorating elves. ๐Ÿ˜‰

As party favors, Ruth bought exotic chocolates, then had the girls paint watercolors on heavy stock paper, which she used to wrap them.

But inside each and every piece, she glued a quote from one of my books. Completely out of text and hysterical in some cases, poignant and meaningful in others, and a bit risque once or twice. I was sooo surprised. It was a delightful bonus that my guests loved. I have such a clever and thoughtful daughter-in-law.

The whole party was great–made even better by the fact not one, but TWO, of my old friends from high school came for the event. Mary Larson Day flew in from Colorado, and Jackie Maxwell hopped a flight from Portland, Oregon.

As a special treat (and to keep me from doing any set-up work) my son took the three of us on a tour of Yosemite the day of the party.

Jackie–my very gifted photographer pal–was in Ansel Adam heaven!! Here are a couple of shots she shared with me.

Late autumn is the perfect time of year to visit–very few tourists. LOL. And the Park was FREE because it was Veteran’s Day. I was so impressed by that fact.

Stripes Through Granite

Jackie took a whole of awesome scenic shots and she’ll have up on herย website in the near future. Look at what she did with a wall of granite.

But, perhaps the coolest thing about the whole grand affair is that it served as a vehicle to raise money for the new charter school I’ve been supporing. On the invitation to my party, Ruth requested that in lieu of gifts, people donate to Sierra Foothill Charter School. And they did!!! To the tune of: $1,820.00. ย Isn’t that amazing!!!

I was proud, humbled and a little choked up all at the same time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now, it’s back to work, my friends. Have a great week. After all the cake and party food, I am on a diet until next Thursday. LOL.

  1. Yosemite looks beautiful!

    The cake is awesome too.

And…is that neon I see in the background of the first pic?

Glad you had a wonderful day and the charter school shared in that day with you!

  2. Thanks, Ali. It was so fun to hang out with your folks. Your mom made Paul’s night. You’ll have to ask her how. Too funny.

Thanks, Marcie. Yes, there’s a tiny bit of neon. I gave my hubby an “Open” sign one year for Christmas. Now, his pals know in advance if he’s in the shop looking for company. (It might not have been the smartest thing I ever bought him. LOL.)

The cake was delish, but the baker person definitely over-sold us on the amount. Yee-gads, we had half a cake left. And, believe me, that’s not cheap. But even the leftovers are yummy.
